How to remove Jeep Wrangler doors?

Step 1: Locate the Jeep tool kit that comes with your Jeep JL and find the T50 & T40 Torx bit and ratchet.

Step 2: Remove the Torx bolt located underneath the hinge of each door. When loosening be carful not to scratch the door. You can use your hand as a barrier to prevent the wrench from striking the paint. There are two bolts on each door and there is a dedicated storage section in the back of the Jeep. It’s labeled for the bolts and if you have a 4-door you will have eight and if you have a 2-door you will have four bolts.

Step 3: Now we need to remove the door catch that prevents the door from swinging fully open. Each door will have one T40 bolt inside of the door frame that you must remove. Once the door is removed you can reinstall this bolt back into it’s place for safe keeping.

Step 4: Before the door can be removed you must disconnect the limiting strap and unplug the wiring. Locate the plastic panel that covers the limiting strap. To remove this panel, pull straight toward you. There are two pins that hold this in place and will unhook easily. The panel has it’s own strap that will keep the panel hanging once it’s disconnected.

Step 5: Locate the wiring harness connected to the wires coming from the door. There should be a red pushpin. Push this pin down to unlock the harness and push the white piece outwards and all the way up to full release the harness.

Step 6: With the wiring disconnected you can lift the limiting strap up and off the hook it rests on.

Step 8: Your front doors are now ready to be removed. Make sure you’ve setup your storage before removing them off the Jeep. Lift up carefully to remove them off the hinges. It helps to roll the window all the way down first and there is a lifting point under the arm rest inside the door that will help with carrying them.
